If you’ve been on social media lately, you’ve likely seen one of the viral videos showcasing peel-off lip stains from brands including Wonderskin and Sacheu Beauty. Devotees of these lip stains say they give lips natural-looking color, last way longer than traditional lipstick, and can be paired with your favorite gloss for a high-shine glass finish. But are they really worth the hype? And how can you use them in your daily beauty routine?
Content creator @jodiekay82 swears the Wonderskin Wonder Blading Lip Stain Peel-Off Masque in Crush gave her the perfect pink lip that lasts the entire day. Here’s how she did it. She first used the brand’s 3-in-1 Lip Scrub Exfoliator & Moisturizer to slough off any dead skin cells. Then she applied the blue-purple lippie to her lips and left it on for about 30 seconds. Once she wiped or peeled it off, she had a pink, her-lips-but-better color left behind.
You can also apply the lip stain as a liner (our favorite hack!) by outlining your lips with the stain as you would your favorite lip liner pencil. It’ll look a little funny at first, but remember, you’ll be peeling off the blue shade to reveal the color underneath. Creator Cennedy Elexis did this technique with the Sacheu Lip Liner Stay-N-Peel Off Lip Liner Tattoo in HEY-zel. The result was the prettiest medium-brown lip liner, which she paired with her favorite nude lip gloss. “I was so shocked by how pigmented and how well this applied,” she said.
Although you only have to leave the lip stain on for 30 seconds, the longer you leave it on, the deeper the color will be. You can even repeat the peel-off process multiple times if you want a darker lip stain effect. Just make sure the product is fully dry before removal. If you’re having trouble peeling off the lip stain in one swift pull, it could be because you didn’t leave it on long enough. Experiment with different lengths of time and different application techniques and you just might find your new favorite lip look.
